Caps make two trades.
Gm Mirecki has wasted little time making his mark on the Capitals organzation, with two deals made over the weekend. The first
sees center Boyd Gordon send to Atlanta in exchange for Dwayne Roloson and a 2008 7th round draft pick.
"Obviously it was sad to see Gordon go but we are really hurting at the Goaltender position. We have Semen Varlamov
but obviously he a few years away from playing in the NHL. In Roloson we get a guy that has shown flashes of brillance and
can carry a team for periods of time. We are however still looking to aquire a true number 1" - Mirecki
In the other deal we see the Caps give up RFA defenseman Shaone Morrisson and center Thomas Plecanek in exchange for left
winger Martin Havlat and center Todd White.
"Plecanek and Morrisson are two great young players but we needed to add some salary. With Ovechkin at Havlat taking
up our top two left wing spots we believe that we have two of the most lethal left wings in the game, baring another Havlat
injury. White also give us a great third line pressence." - Mirecki
Caps Hire New GM.
The Washington Capitals are pleased to announce the hiring of their new GM, Mr. Mirecki. Mirecki is a rookie GM but is looking
forward to the challenges that lay ahead. "The caps are a great up and coming team. I hope to take the success of last
years season and build upon it this season. I'm very excited to be part of the team." said Gm Mirecki when asked to comment
on his hiring. Everyone in the Capitals organization wishes Mr. Mirecki well and hopes he can build upon last years playoff
berth.
